Take and Read in 2024: Inductive Method

The whole analogy about multiple ways to skinning cats is just…gross. However, biology teacher Shannan Muskopf believes there are only two main ways. [1] Don’t visualize it. And yet, despite the visual, the general principle is true: There are multiple ways to do a thing. Even more, there are multiple ways to do good things. There are many good ways to cook a good meal, just like there are many good ways to pursue physical fitness. There are a few questions that have to be asked though: What’s the task I’m endeavoring to do? What’s the purpose behind the task? What path will help in accomplishing the task? I love the Bible. I love studying it. I get paid to preach and teach from it. I (work hard to) order my life around it. I help my kids understand it. I like praying its words with my wife. I love the Bible because it points me to where I can find life over and over—God’s Son, Jesus of Nazareth. It is certainly a witness to God’s master plan to save the world. As an eyewitness

 About Me

I'm Tim. I began following Jesus in August 2001. My wife and I met in 2013 through a crazy string of circumstances. Thank goodness, she said "yes" just a couple years later.

We have several kids!

By God's grace, we've landed in the St. Louis area! I serve Hazelwood Baptist Church as pastor.

In my free time, I like meaningful conversations, tasty coffee, board games, BBQ, concerts, and adventures with his family. I am also back at Southern Seminary!

About the Blog

"Our Frail Deeds" is a callback to a song by Five Iron Frenzy, On Distant Shores. It struck me hard when I first heard the song in high school. People—myself included—hold on to all sorts of stuff for dear life, hoping and praying that it’ll bring some relief and rest. Some of that might come in this life. The Christian's hope however is the future:  "Dear Father, I will see you there on distant shores."

I might write about rad things that happen in my life,  the neat things that God is doing in the midst of our community, and other things related to theology and the Bible. The humble hope here isn't to highlight what we/I do. We are dust. By God's kindness though, we will be able to point people to the never-ending Kingdom—through frail deeds.
